Painters in Los Altos

Los Altos sits on higher ground on the Torrevieja side, and the name is accurate — properties here are noticeably more exposed to wind than the sheltered streets lower down, with long views and very little shelter on the upper roads.

Wind matters more for painting than most people expect. It carries dust and salt onto wet surfaces, it dries a coating faster than it should on an exposed elevation, and it dictates which days exterior work can actually be done properly.

What we do in Los Altos

Property types here

Bungalows, terraced quads, townhouses and detached villas, largely from the 1990s and 2000s. Roof terraces and solariums are very common — and on elevated ground they get sun and wind in equal measure.

Working with the wind

On an exposed site, exterior work gets planned around conditions rather than the diary:

  • Painting is avoided in strong wind, because airborne dust settles into the wet film and you can feel it afterwards
  • Sheltered elevations are done on windy days and exposed ones on calm days
  • Masking is more substantial than it would be lower down — overspray travels
  • Coatings are chosen with the exposure in mind rather than to a standard specification

It occasionally means a job takes a day longer than it might. It's the difference between a finish that's smooth and one that's gritty.

“Over the last 10 years of owning properties in Spain and having used various other painters, I have come to a considered decision that Playa Flamenca Painting Services are the best I have ever used.”

FAQs

Our solarium wall is much more faded than the rest. Can we just do that one?

You can, but it will then be a different shade to the others. Usually better to do all the exposed elevations together and leave sheltered ones for next time.

Does the wind mean the job takes longer?

Sometimes by a day. Work is sequenced around it rather than pushed through in conditions that would spoil the finish.

We're up on the top road and very exposed. Is there a better coating for that?

Yes — a more robust exterior coating is worth specifying on the exposed elevations. It's discussed at the quote.
